Privacy, in plain English.

The short version: YearSnap processes the photos you choose inside your browser. It has no photo-upload server, user database, advertising tracker, or AI training pipeline.

iPhone and device photos

Your browser opens Apple’s or your device’s system picker. YearSnap receives only the photos and videos you select there. A website cannot request native iPhone “All Photos” permission, enumerate your Camera Roll, or silently index iCloud Photos.

Desktop folders

Folder import appears only in browsers that support directory selection. Device and folder files are read locally, converted to temporary browser addresses, and disappear from YearSnap when the tab is closed or refreshed.

Google Photos

When Google Photos is enabled, Google’s own authorization and secure Picker screens let you choose specific items. Those selected bytes are fetched directly into your browser for the current session. Google does not permit YearSnap to silently scan a personal library. You can revoke access in your Google Account.

What we do not do

We do not upload your photo library to a YearSnap server, sell photo data, run facial recognition, create advertising profiles, or train AI models on your memories.

Local metadata and safe limits

YearSnap reads capture dates when available and otherwise uses the local file date so it can group memories by month and year. Imports are bounded per selection and per browser tab to keep the product responsive. You can add supported items in additional batches until the private tab limit is reached.

Contact and changes

YearSnap is currently a free, self-service preview with no staffed support mailbox and no account or server-side photo record to delete. Material privacy changes will be shown here before they take effect.
